Abstract: The extensive representation of knowledge in Brother Yingwu exhibits the key traits of the encyclopedic novel. This literary form reflects not only author Li Er’s ambitious creative pursuit, but also engages with the long evolution of world literary history. Through the theoretical developments of Diderot, Frye, Mendelson, and Calvino, the contemporary encyclopedic novel dissolves the hegemony of singular narrative by incorporating heterogeneous knowledge. It does not seek fixed ideas or definitive answers; rather, it creates an open textual space through the dialogic interplay of knowledge. Brother Yingwu embodies this literary form through three modes of dialogue, using the parody of knowledge within these dialogues to critique the production of knowledge in contemporary society—ultimately forming an ironic response to the very context we inhabit.

摘要： 《应物兄》中大量的知识表征,使该文本具备百科全书小说的特质。这一文体不仅体现了作家李洱的写作野心,也沟通着世界文学史的漫长演绎。经过狄德罗、弗莱、门德尔松、卡尔维诺的论述演变,当代百科全书小说以芜杂的知识消解了单一叙事的霸权,它不追求稳固思想和确切解答,而是通过知识的对话,让文本呈现开放的状态。《应物兄》通过三种对话形式展示了这一文体意义,并以对话中的知识戏仿当代社会的知识生产,实现对我们身处其中的语境的反讽。
