Abstract: Numerous documents have confirmed that silk from China had a profound and extensive impact on the real life of the ancient Romans, and it was interpreted in various literary works, which made historical contributions to enhancing the imagination of ancient Roman literature and widening its aesthetic space, as well as promoted the writing of women's liberation in ancient Roman literature. The intervention research of Chinese silk can open up a new field of cross-cultural material writing in ancient Roman literature, which provides important enlightenment for reflecting on cultural centrism and achieving cultural innovation through the mutual learning between civilizations.

Key words: Chinese silk, ancient Roman literature, material writing, mutual learning between civilizations
