Stephen Owen is the translator of Du Fu's first full English version, and his Du Fu study is also an important part of his Chinese literature research. From the perspective of comparative poetics, this artide takes Stephen Owen's The Poetry of Du Fu as the object, comparing with the interpretation of Du Fu's poetry in Chinese literature, to make a comprehensive evaluation on Stephen Owen's translation and research of Du Fu's poetry in the cross-cultural context. This study analyzes the interpretation of the image of Du Fu, and examines the historical presentation of Du Fu's poetry in Owen's translation and research. In addition, a comprehensive evaluation is made on the translation and research of Stephen Owen between poetry and history to discover the tension of Du Fu as a world classic in the cross-cultural context.
