Abstract: The Hong Kong youth literature publications in the 1950s and 1960s not only trained a number of important local young writers for the Hong Kong literary world in accepting the new literary tradition since the May 4th Movement and keeping pace with the world literary trend, but also made important contributions to the preliminary construction of the subjectivity of Hong Kong literature. Secondly, the emphasis of Hong Kong youth literature publications on Chinese cultural traditions and the open absorption of western modern culture forms a strong contrast with the neglect or inability of mainland China and China's Taiwan to take traditional culture and Western culture into account, thus highlighting the value and significance of Hong Kong's literary history. In particular, the rewriting of Hong Kong's literary history shows extremely important current significance and forward-looking value. Finally, in inheriting the Chinese literary tradition, especially the May 4th new literary tradition, youth literary publications participated in the historical transformation of Hong Kong literature, and undoubtedly communicated the internal relationship between the two periods of Chinese literature divided by 1949 as the dividing line of “modern and contemporary”.

Key words: Hong Kong literature, 1950s and 1960s, youth literature publications, the transformation of Chinese literature after the Second World War, subjectivity construction
