Abstract: Of all the five civilizations of Chinese-style modernization, the material civilization, cultural civilization, political civilization and social civilization have all achieved preliminary effect. In terms of eco-civilization construction, due to the high attention of leaders at all levels, the construction of eco-civilization and environmental governance have also been effectively managed, and people have better loved the natural environment they rely on for survival: the smog that once shrouded the urban sky is gradually disappearing, and green mountains and clear waters are beginning to reappear in some economically developed areas. These are consistent with the early propositions and efforts of ecocriticism. After criticizing anthropocentrism, the relationship between humans and animals has also been re-adjusted, and ecocriticism has seen an “animal turn.” In addition, with the development and iterative updates of contemporary information technology and artificial intelligence, we have entered a posthuman society. The phenomenon of human-machine integration and coexistence further dissolves anthropocentric consciousness, weakens human hands-on ability, and we have more developed thinking and a persistence in rationality. At the same time, there is also a stronger emotional demand. All of these should be viewed as new directions for contemporary ecocriticism.

Key words: new form of global civilization, ecocriticism, anthropocentrism, environmental problem, posthuman turn
