Abstract: After a brief introduction to the four forms of African Writers' reference to ancient Greek and Roman classics, the paper focuses on the rhetorical and aesthetic reference of the poet Senghor to the ancient Greek and Roman classics, and points out that his creation shows the poet's cultural choice and cultural confidence. He created vision poems with African characteristics, which broke away from the Western imitative poetics and recreated the supernatural life in Africa. He emphasized the black traditional spirit in the works of African writers, affirmed the style and features of black new poetry, the pastoral world of Africa, and reflected a new landscape of history and politics, metaphorically expressed the desire to break away from the West.
