Abstract: The works of Heinrich Böll, the Nobel Prize winner and representative writer of the post-World War II German literature, manifest the combination of literature and politics, aesthetics and morality, and reflect the distinctive style of humanistic aesthetics. Böll has been introduced into China for more than 60 years, but the translation and research about his works are still insufficient. Based on the historical statement of the translation and research, as well as the reflection and expansion, this paper investigates and analyzes the ‘misfortune’ and ‘misreading’ of Böll's works in Mainland China, and tries to make a reflective rereading in order to provide reference for the studies to come.
