Abstract: Throughout Ezra Pound's masterpiece Cantos, Kuanon is a core image. Kuanon, in Pound's imagination, is not a single, but composite image that combines the characteristics of multiple goddesses. She is not only a patron goddess and savior, but also a celestial goddess, or Queen of Heaven. As a patron goddess and savior, Kuanon is connected with Aphrodite goddess of love, Athena goddess of wisdom, Artemis goddess of the hunt in Greek mythology and Virgin Mary in Christianity, protecting and saving those who need help and are in trouble. As a celestial goddess, Kuanon represents an ascending power, leading the soul to get out of the physical world and rise to the divine world or tending to the summum bonum. In this sense, Kuanon is associated with goddess Beatrice in Dante's Divine Comedy, goddess Isis in ancient Egyptian mythology, and the imagination of souls' ascension in Islam etc.
