Abstract: Wang Ning is recognized as one of the most influential humanity scholars in the international society in contemporary China. A systematic review of Wang Ning's academic journey, views and contributions is not only an essential part of the current studies on Chinese academic history, but also an expectation of young and middle-aged Chinese scholars. Through analyzing Wang Ning's works in different periods, and together with his interviews, this article divides his academic journey into four periods and examines his major works and contributions in each period. On this basis, this article explores Wang Ning's major views on literary theory and cultural studies. Meanwhile, based on detailed materials and from an all-sided perspective, the article also reveals Wang Ning's international influence and outstanding contributions in the field of literary and cultural studies.
