Abstract: In the context of western postmodernism and postcolonialism, nomadism refers to the transnational migration in the era of globalization and the critical ideology of continuous cross-border flow. At the same time, Chinese American scholars take nomadism as an important writing strategy to examine their national identity and re-establish their subjectivity. Their literary criticism also shows the characteristics of nomadic poetics. The first is cultural nomadism when they wander between different cultural politics with multi-cultural identity and critical attitude. The second is theoretical nomadism when they “hunt” a large number of western theories, forming a pluralistic and mixed theoretical form. The third is textual nomadism when they constantly expand the text boundary and “expropriating” the text to build their cultural and political poetics. “Nomadic Poetics” helps to examine the theoretical situation of Chinese American scholars under the transnational knowledge circulation mechanism, and effectively reflect on the theoretical experience and problems of Western critical theory in China, and thus promote the reflection on overseas Chinese modern literature research.
