Abstract: Zhang Zao is a famous contemporary poet and a poetry translator. He translated a lot of poems by Wallace Stevens, and was influenced by Stevens in his own poetry. “The Idea of Order at Key West” is a representative work that embodies Stevens's poetics. Zhang Zao translated it, and paid tribute and responded to it in his creation. Zhang Zao's translation deviated from the original poem in some key points, and his tribute works rewrite Stevens' ideas. Like Stevens, Zhang Zao pursues “order”, but his order is not equivalent to Stevens's. The fundamental reason for this difference is that Zhang Zao absorbed certain elements of Chinese traditional culture into his poetics, thus making a sinicized transformation of Stevens' poetics.
