Abstract: Sinologism is a theory in the studies between Chinese and Western since the 21st century. It is based on the particularity that “China has never been completely colonized by the West”.By expanding the scope of “Sinologism” to the “Chinese knowledge and its production” of the studies between Chinese and Western,it emphasizes its difference from“Orientalism” and “post-colonialism” and try to overcome the defects of the latter, and puts forward the theory of “Sinologism” with “cultural unconsciousness” and “alienation of knowledge” as its essence.However, Gu Mingdong's Sinology doctrine only extends its scope from “Sinology” to “Chinese knowledge”, from “politics” to “culture”, from “consciousness” to “unconscious”, and adopts a strategy of “pan-politicization”. So it's not “an alternative”, but just an “extension” of “Orientalism” and “postcolonialism.”
