Abstract: Since the reform and opening period, complying with the need of national rejuvenation strategy, the advantages of comparative literature, like its naturally cross-national, cross-linguistic, cross-cultural and interdisciplinary character, have become more apparent. It is playing an increasingly irreplaceable role in foreign exchange and promotion of indigenous academic development in China. In the new century, comparative literature has become a "glamorous discipline," developing by leaps and bounds; there is more than enough excitement, but not enough stability and perspective. This kind of performance is also a concrete response to the general environment in which our country has made tremendous economic development but is lagging behind in spiritual and cultural construction. In the coming decades, we need disciplined hard work; the whole world of comparative literature needs to carefully digest the research that is able to withstand the future challenges of history. China's comparative literature endeavor has a solemn mission in the building of intercultural research and of a future Chinese School. This article is an overall review examining eight aspects of academic activity during the thirty years of Chinese comparative literature's renaissance. On the basis of specific analyses, I seek to highlight the consciousness of issues as well as scholars' reflections and resolutions of those issues, in preparation for the upcoming International Comparative Literature Association's 22nd Annual Meeting in Macao, China, July 21-25, 2019.
