Abstract: The “Manchurian” Korean literature is one of the components of the “immigration/diaspora literature” that debuted in the 20th century. The “double exteriority” of immigrants and diaspora was reflected to different degrees in the works of Korean literati who migrated to Manchuria at that time. As one of the most important poets in the 1930-40s of the Korean Peninsula, Baek Seok's writing of Manchuria is closely related to his own experiences, personal character, and value orientation. The most important feature of Baek Seok's “Manchuria” experience and writing is that it always has utopian fantasy and pastoral poetic feelings. Its perspective transcends the pseudo-Manchurian state in front of its author, but stays in the imagination of ancient China and sages. Therefore, the poet's emotional world is always lingering between intimacy and alienation.
