Abstract: Based on the discussion about contemporary literature in T. A. Hsia's letters, this article articulates Hsia's position and views on contemporary literary research, places them in his personal academic history and the history of modern Chinese literature, and elaborates Hsia's contribution to contemporary literary research with its values and limitations. Hsia's contemporary literary research is fragmented and in the same line as his research on the left-wing literary movement. Both focus on discovering the lyrical voice and subtle implosion behind the political ideology, primarily humanity's glory behind realist literature's “truthful representation”. Against the Cold War background in the 1950s, Hsia used a sympathetic understanding to break through the limitations of narrow ideology and do justice to contemporary literature. Hsia employed humanistic and moral power to make up for the possible limitations of political ideology. Hsia's aesthetic consciousness and emotional expression as a humanist is worthy of our attention.

摘要： 本文以夏济安书信中关于当代文学的讨论为基础,梳理夏济安在当代文学研究方面的立场与观点,并将其置于夏济安个人的学术史脉络以及中国现代文学史脉络,阐述他对当代文学研究的贡献、价值与局限。夏济安的当代文学研究呈碎片化状态,与他对左翼文学运动的研究一脉相承,都着力于发掘政治意识形态背后的抒情声音与微妙内爆,特别是现实主义文学“写实”背后的人性光芒。在1950年代的冷战背景下,夏济安以一种同情的理解,突破狭隘的意识形态的限制,给予当代文学以礼遇,人文的和道德的力量往往弥补了政治意识形态可能带来的局限,显示了作为一位人文主义者的审美自觉与情感表达,值得我们予以重视。
