Abstract: Marx and Engels' theory on world history and world literature is prospective and original. While many people attach importance to Marx and Engels' theory that capitalism opens up the world market and makes mankind enter the world history, Marx and Engels' theory of red globalization was ignored. From the Marxist point of view, the world history can be divided into four stages, from the initial capitalist expansion of the world market to the “globalization fever” in the 1990s due to the rapid development of information technology and the popularity of the Internet. With strict reasoning, Marx and Engels believed that the most important cultural form in the era of world history was “world literature”, so they regarded spiritual production as the direct result of material production. Therefore, unlike Goethe, who only felt the arrival of the world literature era with his unparalleled intuition, Marx and Engels' concepts of world market, world history and world literature are closely linked and progressive, forming an interactive and profound theoretical system.
